Squash Blossom Farm is known for artisan baking -
crusty wood-fired sourdough breads,
beautiful braids and fancy breads flavored with fresh farm herbs,
tantalizing tomato tarts and delectable fruit tarts
scones, turnovers, cupcakes and cookies..to mention just a few.
Everything is handmade from scratch with local and organic ingredients.
Find them at the Rochester Downtown Famers Market on Saturday mornings during the summer. But don't sleep too late or you will miss them!
Our sourdough breads can be purchased at the Peoples Food Co-op in Rochester (delivered every Tuesday and Saturday morning.) We can also bake special orders.
Vegetables and Herbs
Asparagus to Zucchini. We grow a wide assortment of vegetables, herbs , edible flowers and berries for our small CSA and for farm meals and baked goods . Everything is grown using organic and permaculture methods, no chemicals.
Poultry and Eggs
We raise about 60 laying hens. All of our birds have free run of the farm, busily scratching through leaf duff, chasing butterflies, and even occasionally stealing a tomato from the garden. Most of our eggs are committed to farm meals, baking, or CSA boxes, but during spring and early summer we often have eggs available for sale at the farm.
Three hives of honey bees ensure excellent pollination in the garden and provide the most delicious honey! Susan also uses the beeswax to make her BeeKeepers (wax- infused cloths for storing bread and other foods) and soothing "Kiss-of-a-Bee" lipbalm.
Come for our famous wood-fired pizzas during Summer Sundays at Squash Blossom! Our pizzas are made with our own sourdough crust, homemade, savory sauce from our own garden tomatoes, and herbs and veggies grown on the farm. Sometimes, we even make homemade mozzarella. You will swoon!
Wood-fired pizza is also available for private parties, weddings, and at special events to be announced on our FB page and Farm calendar.
Dinner on the Farm
Talk about fresh, local, artisan food! Special guest chefs will prepare a series exquisite dinners on the farm this summer, featuring Squash Blossom Farm ingredients and other sustainably-raised meats, vegetables, and fruits from nearby farms. Details will be forthcoming.
The Squash Blossom Farm Store is open Sunday afternoons June through September, selling limited amounts of Breads, Bakery treats, Eggs, Vegetables, Jams, Honey and other farm products. Never fear, antique-lovers-- you will still be able to find a fun selection of quirky vintage and antique treasures and Susan's artistic creations in the store!
